DECAHEDRON is the 10th annual end of year exhibition of graduating students from the BA (hons) Digital Arts course at Kingston College.
Wow!! It’s our tenth year group to graduate this year and It feels like something special. There have been around 150 students that have gone through the course, graduated and headed off into the world of work. Room 106 at Richmond Road has seen students enter (and often leave) bemused but the quality of the teaching, the sheer enthusiasm for the subject, and the support from Kingston College and also UWL (formerly Thames Valley University) has meant all students have left with high level skills across a wide range of disciplines and with a keen visual design sense.
Our students can be found working on Hollywood movies, in television and media in Soho, as web designers at Sky and other international brands, as product design and architectural visualisers, as senior designers at graphics agencies and running their own film production companies. The range of our alumni bears testament to the breadth of the course’s content and vocational emphasis of our training and intellectual investigation without us ever ruling out high level specialist skills.
Programme leader Mark Owen has been there from the start in September 2002 and the current team of Mark, Andy Bossom and Gerda van Wyk have seen a great group of students develop something special as they move towards graduation this year. There are real strengths this year in 3D modelling, video, graphics and branding, web design, matte painting, character and games development, and motion graphics.
With this in mind we are thrilled to be showing the degree student work in a truly inspiring space in the bare crypt of an 18th century church in central London, next door to Euston Station. The space will light up with the glow of student work on screens, in projections, in installations and in prints.
The private view is on the evening of Friday 6th June at 6pm and is open daily until Monday 9th June.
Decahedron? A polyhedron is a multifaceted 3d solid. Deca? it’s our tenth degree show!
